Limerick

This week in English, the Fantastic 4 are scrutinizing features of poetry and experimenting with expressive rhyme and rhythm. A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of five lines. The first, second, and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. The third and fourth lines only have to have five to seven syllables, and have to rhyme with each other and have the same rhythm.

This week in English, the Fantastic 4 are scrutinizing features of poetry and experimenting with expressive rhyme and rhythm. In particular, a Haiku (俳句) is a very short form of Japanese poetry. It is typically characterized by three lines of seventeen syllables in total (five, seven, and five) while traditionally evoking images of the natural world.

St Andrew’s are Astonished!

St Andrew’s welcomed Holme Grange to their home at Pangbourne, and Holme Grange were looking confident after a run of good games.  The game kicked off with Noah (last weeks goal scorer) on the bench as the team was now 10 players strong.  Holme Grange were playing really well, but they couldn’t score.
